In her speech to the Economic Club, Ms. Carmichael will argue that ideology, protectionism, and inaction in our health care system will – paradoxically – create the very two-tier system that many fear. Ms. Carmichael is on the forefront of a movement to protect and strengthen Canadian health care at a time when many believe it is in the throes of an existential crisis. Drawing on lessons learned from a career as a senior executive in the financial industry and the head of a highly successful medical advisory service, she believes business thinking is the key to building a new and sustainable model that puts patients first.
